Los Angeles, CA - In the longest-recorded nine-inning game in Philadelphia Phillies' history (four hours and 13 minutes), the Los Angeles Dodgers ultimately came out on top thanks to the heroic efforts from former teammate, shortstop Jimmy Rollins, in the bottom of the seventh inning.

After the Phillies failed to score in the top of the first inning off of right hander Yimi Garcia, despite having two runners in scoring position with only one out, the Dodgers followed the next half-inning by conversely capitalizing on their given opportunity.

With one out, second baseman Howie Kendrick hit his second triple of the season past right fielder Ben Revere. Then, third baseman and former New York Met Justin Turner hit a sacrifice fly-RBI, his 38th of the year, to score Kendrick. Newly-named All-Star, first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, subsequently went yard, on a solo shot, to put the Dodgers up 2-0.

The Phillies answered back in the top-half of the second inning. Following a lead-off single by left fielder Cody Asche, shortstop Freddy Galvis hit his third home run of the season and 16th of his career to tie the game at two. The Dodgers got one run back in the bottom of the second, however, as left fielder Andre Ethier doubled-home right fielder Yasiel Puig to give his team a 3-2 advantage.

Garcia, who was making his first career start on the mound after 47 career relief appearances, was pulled by Don Mattingly after just two innings on the mound. He surrendered two runs on four hits, and struck out two batters. Newly promoted left hander Eric Surkamp, making his 2015 debut, took over in relief.

In the top of the third, the Phillies scored three runs to go on top, 5-3. This came thanks to first baseman Ryan Howard's 348th career home run, a three-run blast that just got over the right center field wall. An inning later, an insurance run was added as center fielder Odubel Herrera went yard for the fourth time in his rookie season.

Phillies' right hander Sean O'Sullivan threw five-and-a-third innings tonight.Throwing a career-high 123 pitches, O'Sullivan was in-line for his second win of the season, but he allowed a three-run, game-tying home run to catcher Yasmani Grandal in the bottom of the fifth. Seven of his eight total hits allowed were for extra-bases (four doubles, one triple and two home runs).

After O'Sullivan allowed a one-out single to Rollins in the bottom of the sixth, right handed reliever Jeanmar Gomez was called upon in relief. Against Gomedz, center fielder Joc Pederson grounded out in four pitches, and Kendrick subsequently hit a RBI-single to bring home the former Phillie and give the Dodgers a 7-6 lead. This run was charged to O'Sullivan's line to raise his ERA to 6.08.

The next half-inning, the Phillies evened the game up at seven. With the bases loaded and one out against right hander Pedro Baez, Galvis brought home third baseman Maikel Franco on third, for his third RBI of the night, with a sacrifice fly. Franco led off the inning earlier with his 14th double of the season.

Los Angeles retook the lead in the bottom of the seventh against Gomez. Runners were on second and third with two outs for Rollins, who had seen 27 pitches in his previous three at-bats of the night. On a 1-0 count, the Oakland, California-native brought both runners home for his second and third RBIs of the night. The next batter, Pederson, hit a RBI-double to give the Dodgers a 10-7 lead.

The Phillies would not be able to build a run-scoring rally in the eighth or ninth innings.

The Phillies (182) and Dodgers (186) combined for 368 thrown pitches tonight.
