Orioles score four in the fourth, send Phillies to their ninth straight loss

Trailing 6-1 through the majority of the game, a three-run home run off the bat of Freddy Galvis brought the Phillies to within two. The offense was unable to complete the comeback though despite threatening in the ninth, falling by a final score of 6-4. It's been 10 days since the Phillies have last won a game as tonight's loss marks their ninth straight. This nine-game slide is the longest for the Phillies since September 1999.

In the first inning, O's right fielder Chris Parmlee took a Kevin Correia fastball over the wall in right center field to give Baltimore the 1-0 advantage.

The Phillies evened things up in the bottom half of the frame though, thanks to a wild pitch from Jimenez that allowed Chase Utley to score from third base.

With the game locked at one a piece heading into the fourth, Matt Wieters broke the tie with an RBI-single to score Travis Snider to make it a 2-1 lead.J.J. Hardy followed with an RBI-single of his own to make it 3-1 and two hitters later, David Lough's two-run double extended the lead to four. The Orioles capped off their fourth-inning scoring with an RBI-single by starter Ubaldo Jimenez that made it a 6-1 lead.

Fast forward to the bottom of the seventh. Cameron Rupp singled to right with one out to break Ubaldo Jimenez's streak of 10 straight batters retired. With the infield playing back for the double play, Cody Asche reached first thanks to a perfect bunt down the third base line. Hitting just .137 since the middle of May, Freddy Galvis was up next and he took a 1-2 offering from Ubaldo Jimenez over the wall in right to cut the lead to two, 6-4.

The Phillies had one final chance at a comeback in the ninth. With runners on the corners against O's closer Zach Britton, pinch-hitter Jeff Francouer grounded out into an inning ending double play.

The Phillies bullpen did their job tonight, looking very impressive over the final innings, but so did Baltimore's. The Orioles didn't allow the Phillies to get any closer than, despite a final push from the Phils in the ninth, earning them the win in the third game of the four-game home-and-home series.
