In less than two weeks, the Flyers and the rest of the NHL will be adding potential pieces of the future at the NHL Draft in Sunrise, Fla.

With that, our series on potential draft prospects starts to wind down as the draft creeps closer.

The forward group continues to be the headliner for the upcoming draft.

Here's a profile of Halifax Mooseheads winger Timo Meier.

Let's start here: if Ron Hextall wants to pick up a scoring winger, this may be the guy to take.

Coming out of the QMJHL, Meier is considered the next great scorer to come out of the league. In 61 games for Halifax this season, Meier scored 44 goals and added 46 assists for 90 points.

The 18-year-old Swiss winger also played in six games at World Juniors, scoring two goals and adding four assists.

Listed at 6'1" and 209 pounds, Meier possesses a sniper's shot. Pick your poison. His quick wrists make for excellent wrist shots and he brings a lot of power with his slap shot.

Meier is always trying to get into the scoring areas. He'll crash the net effectively and always sets to shoot.

He plays well in the offensive zone but needs to improve his play away from the puck defensively and needs to be smarter with his passes at the NHL level.

Even with a few defensive flaws, Meier has a strong foundation of being a two-way player, using his size and physicality, but he needs to apply it to his defensive game.

His skating is solid, though some scouts believe he could get better after making a strong first step by becoming more fluid.

Overall, any team looking for a pure sniper with an excellent shot and a high ceiling for scoring potential will take a good look at Meier. He's projected to go closer to the middle of the first round, somewhere are picks 13-15, but if a team desperately needs a sharp-shooting winger, look for Meier to go late in the Top 10.
