Flyers announce preseason schedule

The Flyers on Wednesday announced their seven-game preseason schedule for 2015-16, which consists entirely of Metropolitan Division opponents.

Preseason action opens on Sept. 21 with split-squad games at the PPL Center in Allentown as well as Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Flyers will face the New York Islanders for both games, in what will be the first NHL action played in Allentown and what is speculated to be the Barclays Center's first NHL game.

The next night, the Orange and Black head to Wells Fargo Center to host the New York Rangers. They'll face the Islanders at home again on Sept. 25, then head to Madison Square Garden for another date with the Rangers. Preseason pucks will conclude with a home-and-home series against New Jersey on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2.

The full seven-game schedule is as follows:
Sept. 21: vs. NYI (PPL Center)
Sept. 21: at. NYI (Barclays Center)
Sept. 22: vs. NYR
Sept. 25: vs. NYI
Sept. 28: at NYR
Sept. 30: vs NJ
Oct. 2: at NJ

Of note, the Orange and Black won't be heading up to London, Ont. for preseason action — the first time since the 2002-03 season that they won't be playing at Budweiser Gardens. The Flyers also aren't scheduled to face Washington in preseason action for the first time in a long time — though it is likely that both teams will play their annual rookie game in training camp, which will be announced by the team at a later date.

The Flyers will also become Philadelphia's second team to play a preseason game at PPL Center. Last October, the 76ers beat Orlando 95-84 in the arena's first NBA game.
