Lost in the news of the Phillies win and Chad Billingsley's trip to the 15-day disabled list yesterday was David Buchanan's unfortunate afternoon in Lehigh Valley.
According to Philly.com Sports, Buchanan left his start early after injuring his leg while fielding a ground ball. Buchanan had thrown 2 1/3 scoreless innings before getting carted off the field, which is never a good thing.
Buchanan, 25, was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after going 0-5 with an 8.76 ERA in five starts for the Phillies to start the season. In 15 innings with the Ironpigs, Buchanan has given up five runs, walked one and struck out 10.
