Phillies reacquire Jayson Nix in trade with Orioles

Few players in baseball changed addresses more than infielder Jayson Nix.   Nix probably will be just as busy moving in 2015, too.   After signing a minor-league deal with the Baltimore Orioles this past offseason, nix is on the move once again.   The Phillies have reacquired their former infielder in a trade with the Orioles.

Jayson Nix had a very busy 2014 season.  It all began with the Tampa Bay Rays in Spring 2014.   At the end of Spring Training, the Phillies added Nix in a trade and he made the Phillies Opening Day Roster.   May 12, the Phillies outrighted Nix off of their roster, and he opted for free agency.

Then, Nix signed again with the Tampa Bay Rays.  After not appearing in any Major League games, Nix was released by the Rays on August 1.  But Nix was employed pretty quickly; the Pittsburgh Pirates signed Nix on August 3 and put him on their Major League roster.  The Pirates designated Nix for assignment on August 25.

Finally, on August 28, the Kansas City Royals acquired Nix through a waiver claim and Nix finished the season and even appeared in the playoffs with the Royals.

Nix appeared in 41 Major League games in 2014, batting a combined .120 with one home run and four RBI.   In his 18 games with the Phillies he hit .154.  Lifetime, Nix is a .212 hitter in eight seasons with eight Major League Teams.

The move only cost the Phillies cash considerations.  Phillies fans probably will not see Nix unless there is an injury to someone on the Major League roster.  Nix takes the place of Maikel Franco on the IronPigs roster in Lehigh Valley.
