Atlanta, GA- Coming off a game to forget by the Phillies, where Shelby Miller pitched a three hit compete game shut out against the Phillies, the bats woke up again.
Unfortunately, big games by Ryan Howard and Ben Revere were not enough to give the Phillies the win. Jerome Williams lasted only 4.1 innings give up six runs. Andrelton Simmons hit his second homer of the year in the first to give the Braves the early lead. Phillies were able to tie it the in the second with a ground run double by the "Big Piece." Braves added on in the fourth and the fifth. Howard hit his fifth home run of the season in the sixth. Francoer and Revere also drove in runs in the inning to bring the Phillies with in two runs.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Phillies failed to get a shut down inning with Jeanmar Gomez on the hill. Nick Markakis drove in Jace Peterson with double to give the Braves a three run lead, a lead they would keep. Ruf drove in Revere in the ninth, but the Phillies would go on to lose.
