It's a battle of major league veterans today as the Phillies and Twins meet at the Twins Spring Training home of Fort Myers. Jerome Williams is on the hill for the Phillies. Ervin Santana is on the mound for the Twins.
The trip is long to Fort Myers so a few Phillies veterans stayed home in Clearwater. Veterans Ryan Howard and Chase Utley will have the day off, as will young third baseman Cody Asche. Asche is out of the lineup for the third day in a row. Asche reported soreness in his back on Thursday.
At home, the Twins will use most of their starters. The Phillies will also face Twins closer Glen Perkins along the way. Former and now current Twins outfielder Torii Hunter will get the day off. Both teams will use the designated hitter.
