Future Flyers Report: Phantoms fall to Syracuse

Today's Future Flyers Report details a pair of tough losses for two affiliate clubs, as the Phantoms' losing streak stretches to four games. Take a look after the jump at how the week was for tomorrow's Flyers.

Juniors:

Check back with Monday's Future Flyers Report for a comprehensive breakdown of how the Flyers' CHL prospects fared in the opening weekend of playoff action.

American League:

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms began a four-game PPL Center homestand Wednesday, falling 6-1 to the Syracuse Crunch. Blair Jones scored the lone Phantoms goal — his seventh of the season. Rob Zepp made 16 of 20 saves, before giving way to Anthony Stolarz in the third period, who allowed two goals on 12 shots.

Their homestand will continue this weekend, as they face Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at 7:05 p.m. Saturday and Manchester at 3:05 on Sunday. The Monarchs game was set to be Mike Richards' first game against the team that he won the Calder Cup with back in 2005, but he was recalled by Los Angeles earlier this week.

The Phantoms (29-28-6-1, 65 points) still sit 10 points out of a playoff spot, and sit just one point ahead of Binghamton for third place in the East Division.

Additionally, Brandon Manning was recalled from the Flyers, with the news that Andrew MacDonald will miss the rest of the season with a broken hand.

ECHL:

In one game this week, the Reading Royals fell 5-1 to Florida. Brett Flemming scored their lone goal, while Connor Knapp saved 28 of 32 pucks.

The Royals will hit the road this weekend, taking on Indy tonight and Wheeling on Saturday. With a 48-17-4-2 record and 88 points, they sit fourth in the Eastern Conference and second in the East Division — just one point ahead of South Carolina.
