Sixers get it done against Denver: Game Recap 3/26

The Sixers played an outstanding game last night against the Denver Nuggets en route to a 99-85 win. They put the pressure on early as they jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead fueled by some great play from Jerami Grant. He was all over the place in the beginning. He opened the scoring with a nice jam down low while backing down his defender in the process. He also came up with some nice defensive stops on the other end that helped the boys in blue to their early lead.

The lead however was short lived as the Nuggets stormed back in the game after some careless passing and turnovers from the Sixers. In my opinion, we should have been up at least 12 or 14 before Denver even cracked zero. We were just playing that well in the beginning. On the other hand, the turnovers are something you can expect from a young team so I don’t think its anything to worry about especially when you end up on the winning end.

The Sixers also had it going on from down town. They converted on 14 off their 34 three point attempts. Robert Covington accounted for about half of those unsurprisingly as he was 6-11 from deep on his way to a 25 point outburst. Although we won the game its hard to nit pick at what was done wrong, but I think we all can agree that 34 attempts from deep is a bit much. We have to start feeding that man with the flat top a bit more as he has sure proven he can carry the load and the team on a nightly basis.

Noel played outstanding last night. He collected another double-double that included 14 points and 15 rebounds. It’s an encouraging sign to see Noel be able to stuff the stat sheet, but I think his most underrated asset is his ability to dish the ball when he gets into trouble. There were numerous times last night where Noel found himself garnering extra attention and he was able to find the open man on the perimeter and give him a great look from three. Him and Jerami Grant also combined for nine blocks total. Noel finished the game last night with 14 points, 15 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 blocked shots, and 2 assists. Not too bad I guess.

You also just don’t win a game by 14 with one person. Other solid performances came from Jerami Grant who was a key part of last night’s victory. He finished up with 6 points, 5 blocks, and 4 rebounds. Robert Covington was also a major part of last night’s success as he showed up to play and scored 25 on the night.
