Future Flyers report: Final weekend of CHL regular season action

Flyers prospects competing in the three Canadian Hockey League ranks will close their regular seasons out this weekend, with the playoffs looming. Things were also a bit slow with both local farm teams, as just one game was played between them. Check after the jump for more on the Flyers' corps of prospects.

Juniors:

Samuel Morin recorded an assist in Rimouski's lone game this weekend — a 3-0 win over Chicoutimi. Heading into the Océanic's final weekend, Morin is one point away from setting a career-high.

In the Calgary Hitmen's lone game this week (a 3-2 overtime win over Red Deer), Travis Sanheim recorded a goal and assist. Radel Fazleev also set up Connor Rankin's overtime winner.

Tyrell Goulbourne recorded his 23rd assist of the season Wednesday, as his Kelowna Rockets fell 3-2 to Seattle in overtime.

Sanheim, Fazleev and Goulbourne are each set to represent their respective teams in the WHL playoffs, heading into the league's final weekend. Morin's Océanic and Danick Martel's Blainville-Boisbriand Armada have also clinched spots in the QMJHL's tournament.

American League:

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms fell 3-2 to Hartford on Friday, their first game in six days. With 65 points, the Phantoms (29-25-6-1) still sit in third place in the East Division, and remain eight points behind Springfield for the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot.

The Phantoms will play twice more this weekend — heading to Worcester on Saturday, and hosting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at PPL Center on Sunday.

ECHL:

In one game this week, the Reading Royals fell 3-2 in overtime to Brampton. Kevin Walrod and Sean Wiles each scored for the Royals, while Connor Knapp made 20 saves on 23 shots.

The Royals have dropped to fourth place in the Eastern Conference (by virtue of a tie between Fort Wayne and Toledo), and sit in second place in the East Division — four points behind Florida — with a 39-16-4-2 record and 84 points.

This weekend, the Royals will stay in Brampton, taking on the Beast today and Sunday.
