A pair of third-period goals by Alexandre Burrows, just 17 seconds apart, gave the Vancouver Canucks a 4-1 win Tuesday over the Flyers.
Burrows' 13th tally of the season came at the 6:44 mark of the third period on a wrist shot from Daniel Sedin. Seconds later, the Canucks (40-25-4) found themselves on another rush, with Sedin setting Burrows up for his second two-goal game of the season. The goals also snapped a 10-game goalless drought for Burrows.
Michael Raffl recorded the lone Flyers goal, tipping in a Claude Giroux shot at 10:42 of the second period. Alexander Edler's sixth of the season nearly four minutes later tied the game, while Radim Vrbata added an empty-net tally with 9.7 seconds to go.
Steve Mason made 31 saves on 34 shots, and was unable to record his second road win of the season. Eddie Lack stopped 27 of 28 Flyers shots, keeping up his stellar play as Ryan Miller continues to be sidelined with a knee sprain.
In his NHL debut, Nick Cousins recorded 10:04 of ice time and one shot on goal, with an even plus/minus rating.
Jakub Voracek also dropped the gloves for the second time all season (and third time in his career), taking on Dan Hamhuis at 9:41 of the second period. Referees pried both men apart, but Voracek was able to land several shots with his right hand.
The loss was also the first for the Orange and Black in British Columbia since Dec. 28, 2010. All-time, they're 32-12-12-0 when playing in Vancouver.
The Flyers (29-28-15) next head to Alberta to continue their four-game road trip, taking on Calgary at 9 p.m. Follow along with Flyerdelphia for full game coverage.
Prior to the game, the Canucks also honored the memory of former coach Pat Quinn in a pregame ceremony. Quinn led two teams to the Stanley Cup final in his storied coaching career — the Flyers in 1980, and Canucks in 1994.
