With Harang scratched, Phillies and Tigers match up once again in Lakeland with Paul Clemens on the Hill

The Phillies are back in Lakeland for the second time in three days as the Detroit Tigers take on the Phillies.   Both squads are light on the regulars today.   The Tigers are once again playing a split-squad game, while the Phillies are resting almost everybody a day after putting the entire starting lineup on the field for the first time.  Carlos Ruiz will serve as designated hitter, but that's it for Phillies regulars.

The only Tigers regular (maybe) is centerfielder Anthony Gose, who is looking to become the team's starting centerfielder.  After the trade deadline trade for David Price that sent Austin Jackson to the Tigers, the team was without a true centerfielder.  So, the Tigers picked up Gose from the Toronto Blue Jays this winter to see if he could start for them.  Phillies fans may remember Gose as the former Phillies prospect who was traded to Houston as part of the package that landed the Phillies Roy Oswalt.

Aaron Harang was supposed to take the hill for the Phillies.  Harang pitched pretty well on Monday in Sarasota against the Orioles, going two innings without allowing a run.  Harang missed his first start due to some back "discomfort" that did not appear to be an issue in his second, but will miss his third.  Former Astros pitcher and Phillies Spring Training invitee Paul Clemens will get a shot.   Clemens pitched two scoreless innings Monday in Sarasota.

The Phillies will face Tigers starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez.   After being one of the more dominant arms in the American League after coming over from the Miami Marlins in a trade, Sanchez has battled injury.  Sanchez was limited to 21 starts in 2014 and made one playoff appearance in 2014.
