The Eagles reportedly made a big move earlier today by agreeing to terms on a contract with cornerback, Byron Maxwell. The safety position is another need for the team and the Eagles have been known to be in the running for free agent to be, Devin McCourty.
Eliot-Shorr Parks of NJ.com tweeted earlier that he sensed the Eagles were confident in their pursuit of McCourty, but a recent column by Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com states that the Patriots are likely to hang on to both McCourty and teammate Darrelle Revis.
The Eagles are in the mix to sign free-agent safety Devin McCourty, according to sources familiar with the situation, but a report from CSN New England’s Tom Curran suggests that McCourty could be returning to the defending Super Bowl champs, along with Darrelle Revis.
On his Twitter timeline, Curran wrote, "It seems a very good bet Pats will retain either Revis or McCourty and a pretty good bet they keep both.
Mosher goes onto mention the next best safety on the market is s Denver’s Rahim Moore, but the Eagles haven’t indicated any interest according to one of his sources.
Update: Mike Garafolo confirms reports of McCourty likely staying with the Patriots
