Mortensen: Maclin to Reunite with Andy Reid in Kansas City

The Eagles made a big splash by agreeing to terms with both Byron Maxwell and Frank Gore, but it seems they will lose out on retaining wide receiver, Jeremy Maclin. Earlier tonight 97.5 The Fanatic's Jon and Sean Show reported that both Mark Sanchez and Jeremy Maclin would be back with the Eagles. While they were right about Sanchez, they were incorrect about the more significant piece, Maclin.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN breaks the news…

Maclin was hoping to land a deal worth $11 million per season while the Eagles were hoping he'd take $9 million a year. Ultimately, it looks like the two sides were unable to come to a financial compromise, resulting in Maclin's departure.

In order to make room for Maclin's salary, Mortsensen tweeted that the Chiefs would likely part ways with Dwayne Bowe. The Chiefs did not complete a touchdown pass to a wide receiver last season.

Chip Kelly and the Eagles now have another hole to fill on offense, with the quarterback position also up in the air at this point.

Cecil Shorts of the Jaguars and the 49ers Michael Crabtree look to be the top free agent receivers on the market.
