Phillies second baseman Chase Utley drops four-letter “f” word, reveals sprained ankle

;

Chase Utley does not say much.  But when he does speak, Utley appears to have an affinity for a certain "f" word.   First were the mic'd Utley's response to boos in New York during the All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.   Then came the World Series Parade and "World f—- Champions".  This afternoon Utley revisited his favorite word once again as he met with reporters at Phillies Spring Training.

Utley took his place at the podium and began taking pictures of reporters with his wireless phone.  Except, the feed was already live on CSN Philly.com.

"Are we live yet? No we're not…"

Once Utley was done taking pictures, he asked reporters how they was doing, saying he was "worried sick" about them all offseason.  Jim Salisbury looks good, while Todd Zolecki looks "okay".

Another day, another veteran who does not want to be at a press conference fooling around.

However, the one tidbit that came out of the press conference was that Utley suffered a sprained ankle:

Any small setback should not affect the Phillies too greatly on the short-term.

Utley's contract calls for a guaranteed $15 million deal in each of the next three seasons should Utley be healthy.    500 plate appearances will vest the next season's deal; if it does not vest, it becomes a club option for the Phillies at lesser dollar amount.   Essentially; Utley's deal is revolving and ongoing, according to his health.

It does not sound likely that Utley will miss time in the season, however.
