Report: Browns Attempted Trade for Foles Before 2013 Season

According to ESPN.com, the Eagles received a trade offer from the Cleveland Browns before the 2013 season. A report surfaced today that the Browns were hoping to acquire then backup quarterback, Nick Foles, by offering wide receiver Josh Gordon to the Eagles. At that point in time, Foles was behind Michael Vick and Josh Gordon was getting ready to serve a two-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. The Eagles rejected the offer.

Both players ended up making the Pro Bowl for their respective teams. Gordon caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns while Foles took over for the injured Vick, tossing for 2,891 yards and 27 touchdowns.

After their Pro Bowl seasons, each player took a different path. Gordon's bad reputation continued, as he was suspended for the entire 2014 season after being arrested for driving impaired. His suspension was reduced and only caught 24 passes for 303 yards in five games for Cleveland. In January, he tested positive for alcohol, violating the terms of his return to the Browns. He faces yet another suspension for the 2015 season.

Meanwhile, Foles regressed, but is still the likely candidate to be the Eagles starting quarterback. Before getting hurt, he threw for 2,163 yards and 13 touchdowns to go along with 10 interceptions. The Eagles went 6-2 in his starts.
