Jeremy Maclin Finishes Second in Comeback Player of the Year Voting

After missing the entire 2013 season with an ACL injury, Jeremy Maclin returned to the Eagles this year, setting career highs in a variety of categories. Yesterday, the NFL announced its yearly awards and Maclin finished tied for second with Cowboys linebacker, Ronaldo McClain, for Comeback Player of the Year.

Rob Gronkowski of the Patriots took home the award, getting 27 votes, compared to the seven votes that Maclin and McClain received. Gronk caught 82 passes for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns during the regular season after being limited to just seven games in 2013 after tearing his ACL.

Meanwhile, Maclin excelled in his first season under Chip Kelly, catching 85 passes for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns. Whether or not Maclin will be in Eagles green next season is yet to be determind, but the wide receiver believes the team should be able to retain both him and teammate, LeSean McCoy.

“I don’t know where everything started, people saying they can’t keep us both,” Maclin told Comcast SportsNet’s John Clark on Radio Row in Glendale, Arizona. “I think that’s crazy. As far as what [McCoy] does with his deal, that’s not my place to comment on that. There’s no reason why you can’t keep us both. That’s one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard all offseason.” [CSNPhilly.com]

The Eagles have a number of decisions to make this offseason beyond Maclin and McCoy as well. Brandon Graham is a free agent and players like Fletcher Cox and Mychal Kendricks are in line for contract extensions.
