Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard publishes children’s book with wife Krystle

Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard already has a National League MVP award, Rookie of the Year award, five All-Star Game appearances, a World Championship and a Silver Slugger award on his resume.  Now he can add one more item: published author.  Howard and his wife Krystle will release tomorrow a book entitled, Little Rhino #1: My New Team.

The book is published by Scholastic Books and is part of a series intended for young readers.  Howard's wife Krystle, who co-authored the book, is a former grade school teacher.  The book is designed for children in grades 1-4.

The description of the book on Amazon.com reads:

Every day when Little Rhino comes home from school, he finishes his homework, grabs his bat, his glove, and runs outside to meet Grandpa James. They always practice catching and hitting in the backyard. Playing baseball with grandfather is Little Rhino's favorite thing to do, especially when he pretends to be a real Major League homerun hitter.

One afternoon, after a long day of second grade, Little Rhino comes home to find out that Grandpa James has signed him up for a baseball league! Little Rhino will finally be a part of a team! But Little Rhino will quickly learn that is not always so easy to a good teammate, especially when there's a bully wearing the same uniform as you.

Ryan Howard shared on Twitter that he  and Krystle would be making a public appearance to promote the book:

Children's Book World is located at 17 Haverford Station Road in Haverford, PA.
