Greene, 31, provides some infield depth for the Phillies with his primary position at shortstop. He has spent time with the Cardinals, Astros and White Sox, compiling a .224 average with 17 home runs and 61 RBI's in 675 at-bats at the big league level. Greene was selected by the Cardinals in the first round of the 2005 draft.
Last season, Greene appeared at the Triple-A level for both the Braves (12 games) and the Padres (114 games). He hit a combined .298 between Gwinnett and El Paso to go along with an on-base percentage of .345. Greene hit 32 doubles, 10 homers and drove in 63 runs.
The most eye-opening statistic isn't so good though. His strikeout number compared to his walks. Last season in the minors, Green went down via the strikeout 141 times while taking a base on balls just 29 times.
In nine seasons with eight different teams in the minors, Greene has a slash line of .273/.344/.443.
