For the fourth time in as many seasons, the Eagles will have a new quarterbacks coach. On Monday, Bill Musgrave was named as the offensive coordinator of the Oakland Raiders, under head coach, Jack Del Rio. Musgrave served as the OC under Del Rio in Jacksonville during the 2003-04 season.
Before Musgrave was brought on, the Eagles had Bill Lazor in 2013 and Doug Peterson in 2012. Musgrave returns to Oakland, a spot that he spent time in during the 1997 as the quarterbacks coach.
Perhaps Musgrave moving on to Oakland is a good thing. Nick Foles regressed with him on staff and the Eagles quarterbacks threw 21 interceptions, the third-most in franchise history since 1982.
This marks the third member of Chip Kelly's staff to depart within a matter of one day. Defensive backs coach John Lovett was relieved of his duties, being replaced by Cory Undlin. Undlin was the defensive back coach under John Fox for the last two seasons in Denver.
In addition to that, assistant coach Ted Williams was assigned to the scouting department. Williams had been a part of the Eagles coaching staff in a variety of capacities since 1996. This past season he coached the tight ends. Assistant tight end coach, Justin Peele, will take over Williams' duties moving forward. Peele is a 10-year NFL veteran, having spent time with the Chargers, Falcons, Dolphins and 49ers.
