It was a trying week for Flyers fans as the Flyers returned from the holiday break with five straight losses. As disappointing and embarrassing as the play was, we must once again pick our Player and Play of the Week.

Our Player of the Week is Vincent Lecavalier. In a week where many Flyers struggled – Lecavalier included – one thing the veteran forward did was keep up his recent string of scoring. He added two goals and one assist to his season total in four games this week.

Our Play of the Week goes to Claude Giroux. Giroux gave the Flyers a 3-2 lead with a power-play goal in the third period against the Colorado Avalanche. It doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary, but when you see how Giroux scored, you can quickly tell it is a special goal.

Giroux speeds up the ice and works his way through three Colorado defenders before being Semyon Varlamov. Video of the goal is below.

The Flyers are in action on Tuesday against Ottawa, Thursday against Washington and Saturday against Boston, all at home. Check back next week for our next selections of Player and Play of the Week.
