Phillies Could Package Hamels & Rollins in Trade with Dodgers

Once news broke that Jimmy Rollins would be willing to accept a trade to the Dodgers, it didn't take too long for the talks to begin regarding a potenital Hamels/Rollins package with LA. Phillies.com's Todd Zolecki suggested pairing the two superstars together could pry one or more of the Dodgers' top prospects from them.

The Dodgers have a couple prospects the Phillies would love to have: infielder Corey Seager(No. 13 in MLB.com’s Top 100 Prospects list) and outfielder Joc Pederson (No. 15). They might be able to pry away one. A source indicated the Dodgers and Phillies could put together a bigger package to improve the Phillies’ return, and that package could include Jimmy Rollins.

Of course, that is tricky because Rollins has 10-and-5 no-trade rights, but a source told CBSSports.com that Rollins would waive those rights to join the Dodgers. That is worth noting because the Phillies have maintained for weeks that Rollins has informed them this offseason that he would not waive his rights for any team. [The Zo Zone]

With all that we have heard about what the Phillies might look for in return for Hamels, it is tough to believe that just one of LA's top prospects, along with some other pieces obviously, would be enough for Ruben Amaro to pull the trigger, especially if Rollins is involved in the deal.

The Dodgers have been linked to Rollins in the past, most recently in 2012, when they claimed the Phils long-time shortstop off of waivers. The Dodgers attempted to trade for both Rollins and Lee at the time, offering a package revolving around Dee Gordon and others. Gordon could potentially be a part of the deal if it happens this time around with Rollins & Hamels. According to Ken Rosenthal, the Dodgers are shopping the All-Star second baseman.
