The Tuesday TANK report
Each week, we take a look at where the Sixers rank among some of the teams competing for the top lottery picks.
TANK Power Rankings (based on chances to finish with No. 1 lottery odds)
- PHILADELPHIA (0-14)
- LA Lakers (3-11)
- Detroit (3-10)
- Minnesota (3-9)
- New York (4-11)
- Utah (5-10)
- Orlando (6-10)
- Milwaukee (7-7)
Not quite tanking, but sitting in “basketball purgatory”.
- Atlanta (6-5)
- Boston (4-8)
- Indiana (6-8)
- Charlotte (4-11)
- Denver (6-7)
TANK observations of the week:
- Detroit is a horrible, absolutely pathetic basketball team. This team may take as long as the Sixers to rebuild, simply because they need the aid of time to rid themselves of some bad contracts, like Josh Smith.
- Charlotte is a team tough for me to put in the “tanking” rankings. They have some talented pieces, and frankly should be playing much better than their .267 winning percentage indicates they have been.
- No matter how big the hole is for the Thunder before Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant come back, I just can’t put them in the “tanking” category. They may miss the playoffs, but unless they have some sort of setback from their recovering stars, there is no way they come close to losing more than 50 games.
- Denver needed to be added to the “purgatory” list because the West is just so ridiculously loaded. In the East, they’d likely compete for a division, but in the West they have about a 0.00000000000001% chance of making it just to the second round of the playoffs!
TANK games to look out for this week:
- Wednesday: Milwaukee at Minnesota (and Wiggins vs. Parker)
- Friday: Minnesota at LA Lakers
- Saturday: Charlotte at Atlanta
