Sunday Six Pack: Eagles at Packers
Following Monday night's dominance against the Panthers, the Eagles get a short week to face their biggest test of the season. The Green Bay Packers await at the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.
These are two teams that are fighting for playoff position with home field on the line. Home field could play a big factor Sunday.
Here are tonight's six keys to the game.
Frozen Tundra - There is nothing easy about facing the Packers in Lambeau. It is one of those home-field advantages that sometimes can't be stopped. The Lambeau leap, the cheeseheads and a perfect 4-0 record at home. It's what awaits the Eagles this week. It is almost as tough a test as the team on the field.
Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood - The Eagles did survive the trip to Lambeau last season. But they didn't have to face Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers leads the Packers 10th-ranked passing offense and has the potential to take a game and turn it into a laugher.
Blowout Bowl - The Packers beat the Bears on Sunday night, 55-14. The Eagles beat the Panthers on Monday night, 45-21. Both teams had incredible weeks scoring in Week 10. In Week 11, they will face each other. This has the potential to be an offensive shootout, but could turn into an offensive struggle with some key plays from either defense.
High-powered offense - Chip Kelly's high-powered offense has to operate in the elements while trying to wear out the Packers defense. The question is how well Mark Sanchez and company fare dealing with colder weather and the presence of Clay Matthews, A.J. Hawk and Julius Peppers.
Eagles secondary vs. Packers receivers - Between Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Andrew Quarless, there are weapons all around for Rodgers. The Eagles secondary had lapses, even in a convincing win over the Panthers. This is a different animal. The Eagles will need defensive stops and the secondary will have to step up in a big way. But you have to wonder if they will be able to stop Rodgers.
Sanchez to Matthews - Get used to hearing this combo. Sanchez found Matthews for two touchdowns on Monday night. Chances are Sanchez will be looking Matthews way even more. Don't be surprised if a lot of Sanchez success today comes on plays to No. 81.
