“Finalist” Chase Utley Misses Out On Rawlings Gold Glove

Phillies Chase Utley was declared a "finalist" in the Rawlings Gold Glove voting a couple weeks ago.  The idea of being a "finalist" is somewhat suspect; the voting had already taken place and they knew who won.  But, they were hoping to get as many people to watch the special on ESPN2 by getting their hopes up that one of their team's players was eligible.  All teams minus a few had a player as a "finalist".  Tonight the vote was revealed and the Rawlings Gold Glove at second base went to DJ LeMahieu.

The voting starting in 2013 included a sabermetric index for the first time in the award's existence, with the votes from major league managers and up to six coaches on that manager's staff making up the "majority of the vote total.
