The Flyers announced the signing of defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo following Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Colaiacovo, 31, played for the St. Louis Blues in 2013-14, scoring one goal and adding three assists in 25 games.

The veteran defenseman has spent his 11 seasons in the NHL playing for the Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings. In his career, he has scored 31 goals and added 113 assists for 144 points in 401 career games.

Injuries have hampered his career, but Colaiacovo was a first-round draft pick of the Maple Leafs, selected 17th overall in 2001.

Colaiacovo isn't likely to arrive in time for the Flyers game on Saturday against the Florida Panthers. He will likely be added to the roster for Tuesday's home game against the Edmonton Oilers.
