Around the NFL: Injury woes all around
Week 2 saw many teams take a beating, not on the scoreboard but in terms of personnel. There were injuries aplenty throughout the many games around the NFL on Sunday.
Plenty of big names were added to the injury lists around the NFL this weekend. This early in the season, there are a lot of teams trying to recover without top performers.
Here are some of the big injuries around the NFL this week.
Robert Griffin III: As the Redskins come into Philadelphia for Week, they won’t have RGIII at quarterback. Griffin suffered a dislocated ankle – though there was no fracture – in a win over the Jaguars this week. Kirk Cousins will fill in while Griffin recovers over the next two months at least.
DeSean Jackson: Moments after RGIII left the game for Washington, Jackson suffered a sprained shoulder and was done for the day as well. He is day-to-day with a sore shoulder and is likely going to play on Sunday. That said, it is a situation that will be monitored throughout the week.
Charles Tillman: The dangerous cornerback for the Bears suffered a triceps injury that will end his season. The Bears placed Tillman on IR on Monday.
A.J. Green: The Bengals had to spend much of Sunday without A.J. Green after he suffered a toe injury. He played despite having a foot injury during practice all week which was further aggravated by the toe injury suffered against the Falcons.
Knowshon Moreno: The Dolphins lost Moreno after he suffered a dislocated elbow on a collision. He’s expected to be out for a month.
Eric Berry and Jamaal Charles: In the Chiefs loss to the Broncos, both Berry and Charles left with ankle injuries in the first half and did not return.
Gerald McCoy: The Buccaneers defensive tackle will miss at least a month with a broken hand suffered against the Rams.
Mark Ingram: The Saints also were hit hard by a hand injury. For them, it is running back Mark Ingram who will miss a month of the season.
Tavon Austin: Austin, the Rams go-to wide receiver, will miss at least two weeks after suffering a knee injury. The Rams visit the Eagles in three weeks.
Ryan Mathews: The Chargers may have stunned the defending Super Bowl champions, but they lost their running back in the process. Mathews will miss at least four weeks with a knee injury.
