More PED Suspensions Coming After Federal Investigation Of Biogenesis

Antonio Bastardo
Phillies Reliever Antonio Bastardo was among those suspended in 2013.  There are more coming.

The Biogenesis scandal has not yet ended.  The Federal Government unveiled new findings today that will lead to even more trouble for Major League Baseball.  The founder of Biogenesis, Tony Bosch, surrendered to police today.   Bosch plans to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute testosterone.

T.J. Quinn of ESPN notes that the federal investigation has revealed more players, whom will most certainly be suspended:

Those suspended last season include the Phillies' own pitcher Antonio Bastardo, New York Yankees infielder Alex Rodriguez, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun, then-Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz, then-Detroit Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta, Padres shortstop Evereth Cabrera, Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal, Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli, then-Mets outfielder Jordanny Valdespin, Yankees outfielder Fernando Martinez, former Phillies pitcher and then-Astro Sergio Escalona, Mariners catcher/DH Jesus Montero, and free agent pitchers Fautino De Los Santos and Jordan Noberto.

On the plus side – maybe these suspensions will create holes on other teams that the Phillies can then trade some of their players to help fill.
