Last night's extra-innings loss to the Marlins drove the Phillies deeper into last place as they fell to the Marlins 5-4 in 11 frames. The Phils showed signs of life late in the game as Marlon Byrd and Cody Asche went back-to-back off Kevin Gregg to tie it 4-4, but it was in the 11th that the Marlins walked off to take the first game of the series.

Tonight, Cole Hamels (2-4,2.84 ERA) will take on Tom Koehler (5-6, 3.70 ERA) in game two of this three-game set.

Cole Hamels' last start came against Miami last Thursday. Working seven frames, Hamels allowed three runs on six hits whilst striking out seven. Despite allowing the three runs Hamels took the no-decision. In the month of June, Hamels went 1-1 with a 1.23 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a .214 opposing average. In those six starts (44 IP), the veteran lefty struck out 47 while walking 15.

Tom Koehler is coming off of a six-inning no-decision last Thursday. As he, the Phillies and Hamels meet up again, he will look to make his first start of July a strong one. On Thursday, Koehler allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out six. In June, Koehler went 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA. In his last three starts he is 0-1 with a 2.77 ERA.

Game Notes:
