Some fans of the 76ers had their enthusiasm curbed on Thursday evening when they ended the night with two first round picks, Joel Embiid and Dario Saric, which will not contribute on the court immediately. However, no one said that would prohibit either from helping the Sixers in other ways.
It seems as though Embiid has taken the cue to help out General Manager Sam Hinkie in building his roster. How? By reaching out and recruiting the best player in the world, LeBron James:
Sixers fans won’t have a chance to “meet” or see Embiid for a while as he cannot fly in for his press conference with his surgically-repaired foot. This tweet gives us a glimpse at him. For one, he seems to be a nice, friendly guy, using “bro”, and even wishing King James to have a good day. I’m sure some hardcore LeBron “haters” will disagree, but Embiid also seems to have a keen eye for talent too.
All reports seem to have James staying in Miami. In fact, one report has him already schemeing with Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade to restructure the team. Even if he was leaving Miami, Philadelphia seems an unlikely destination. But who knows if he opts out again, maybe the Sixers are a more appealing option. Embiid has nothing to lose with a friendly attempt of reaching out to him.
As the blue check indicates, that is the verified, real Joel Embiid. So in a few short days, Embiid has gone from having his face confused with the tape delay and not being thrilled with being a Sixer, to now trying to help build them as a winner. Together we build, right?
