Following today's loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, CSN's Jim Salisbury is reporting that Ethan Martin has been demoted back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Martin had made just two appearances for the Phillies, and none since the series against Cincinnati. In those two outings, the former Los Angeles Dodgers prospect recorded a total of four innings pitched. He faced 17 batters, allowing three walks and a single hit, albeit a two-run home run to Todd Frazier. He also recorded four strikeouts.
Taking Ethan Martin's place will be B.J. Rosenberg, the oft recalled right handed reliever. He began the season with the big league club, but was sent down when Cole Hamels returned to the team. Rosenberg also had a disabled list stint, which ended May 26th. While with the Phillies, Rosenberg collected 6.1 total innings in eight outings, allowing five earned runs, three free passes and three long balls. he allowed only four earned runs in 12.2 innings for Lehigh Valley, along with a single home run and seven walks.
