Marlon Byrd may have given Ben Revere a piggy back for a reason. Phillies center fielder, Ben Revere, has been held out of the lineup the past two games because of a swollen left knee. Revere suffered his injury in the fourth inning of Monday night's game, when he robbed Freddie Freeman of a hit with a spectacular running catch into the outfield wall. When Revere made the catch, he slammed his knee flush into the wall.
While the swelling was down a good amount before today's game, the Phillies are looking for it to go away completely before putting him back. (via CSNPhilly.com)
“We’re trying to get all the swelling out of there,” Revere said. “It would have been hard to play (Tuesday) night. I could probably pinch-hit today. It looks a lot better today than it did yesterday.”
“I hit it full speed,” he said. “The next day it swelled up.”
John Mayberry Jr. got the start in place of Revere. In his last 20 games entering today, Mayberry is hitting .357.
