The Kyle Farnsworth Rumors Heat Up

Farnsworth
One day, Kyle Farnsworth was closing games for the New York Mets. Just forty eight hours later, he was released. Since then, his landing spot has been of major question, with the Phillies being possible contenders. Now, according to a few sources, there's a chance he'll be in Philadelphia by tomorrow. First is Jim Duquette, who has had experience, well, everywhere.

Then, a bit of contradiction coming from Jon Heyman of CBS:

Finally, Reds beat reporter Mark Sheldon seems to have a response to Duquette:

Basically, Farnsworth is getting a major league deal somewhere, and a few signs are pointing to Philadelphia. More to come…

Farnsworth is a 16-year veteran in the league, having played for the Cubs, Tigers, Braves, Yankees, Royals, Rays, Pirates, and, of course, the Mets. Statistically, Farnsworth's best days are far behind him. His best seasons were back in 2001 and 2005, with WARs of 1.9 and 1.5, respectively. The right hander was certainly aided by a team with the third fewest errors in the majors, because while his ERA stands at a modest 3.18, Farnsworth's FIP resides at a 4.51. He's also averaging five strikeouts, three walks, and one homerun per nine innings pitched. While the numbers aren't what you may desire in a reliever, they fit just right here with the Phillies, should he sign here.
