May Phanatic of the Month Bobble
May is a week old and I still have not gotten around to writing about this month's Phanatic of the Month. Each release from the second edition of the Phanatic of the Month bobble head series is taken from the pages of the Phanatic Book Series written by Tom Burgoyne – and May pays tribute to "Happy Birthday, Phillie Phanatic."
For those of you without children, the books have been published over the past 10 years or so – with a number of them having been given out as SGAs on "Be A Phanatic About Reading Night." I'm not too geeky about the Phanatic myself, but was interested to see that the mascot's mother, Phoebe, is featured as a side character on the May bobble. It is the first time she has appeared on a bobble head. Alas, there is still no return of Phred – the Phanatic's short-lived cousin. Maybe next year…

Phillies Phestival Ticket Booth Poll
With tickets for this year's Phillies Phestival (May 19th) being received by fans this week, the time was right to launch my annual polling of Phestival booth ticket numbers. For the past two seasons, I have hosted a poll, asking fans to log their booth ticket numbers with the hopes we could draw some conclusions as to which booths were most likely to be "good ones."
The concept is simple: those booths which have a more limited distribution are more likely to be those for stars like Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins and Cliff Lee. Those which are more widely distributed have typically proven to be the booths with coaches, rookies and bench players. It is more of an exercise in entertainment than scientific – but, surprisingly, our sample size has been enough to provide a relatively good prediction.
