Scouting Report: Beau Allen, DT

The Eagles needed depth on the defensive line and ultimately needed to use the draft to improve defensively. They did that again with their final pick.

With the 224th selection, the Eagles took Beau Allen, a 6'3", 333-pound nose tackle out of Wisconsin.

Never heard of the newest Eagles lineman? Here's his scouting report.

A typical depth selection on the line, this pick gives the Eagles flexibility at the nose tackle position. Allen has good size and is a strong blocker with great initial steps.

His build allows him to push hard at the line, creating chances to pursue the quarterback. He is a tough and durable player who didn't miss a game in his four-year college career.

Allen is very one-dimensional when it comes to the pass rush. He charges through the middle but that seems to be his only move. Otherwise, he isn't much of a pass rusher and is more of a protector of the line.

Ultimately, he is a perfect developmental player for a 3-4 defense, which is why he appealed to the Eagles. There's a chance he sticks, but nothing is imminent. There is promise, but only time will tell if this pick truly works out.
