The picks kept flowing in on Friday night and several teams providing interesting picks even in the second and third round of the Draft.
The Eagles certainly had a highlight trading up in the second round, but other teams made some interesting moves and picks along the way.
Here are some of the highlights from Rounds 2 and 3.
Round 2, Pick 2: Dallas Cowboys: Demarcus Lawrence, DT – This was an interesting pick for two reasons. One, it involved a trade between division rivals – the Redskins traded down with the Cowboys – and Lawrence had slipped out of the first round, making this a bit of a steal for the Cowboys.
Round 2, Pick 4: Oakland Raiders: Derek Carr, QB – The Raiders had a quarterback spot to fill and they did with Carr. Another player that was a bit of a surprise to slip into the second round, the Raiders managed to take him before anybody else could. What also made this an interesting pick was that he was one of only two quarterbacks taken on Day 2.
Round 2, Pick 7: Jacksonville Jaguars: Marqise Lee, WR – The Jaguars first three picks were all for impact positions. More on that later. But after taking Blake Bortles the quarterback in the first round, they secured a surprisingly available weapon for him in the second round.
Round 2, Pick 11: New York Giants: Weston Richburg, C – The Giants surprised with their second-round selection of an offensive lineman. But that was part of the Giants struggles in 2013, as line injuries clearly hampered the team. This provides depth on the line to protect Eli Manning.
Round 2, Pick 15: Washington Redskins: Trent Murphy, OLB – The Redskins got a solid player at the midpoint of the second round. Murphy was a player many thought would be on the Eagles radar at this point. Just another player off to a division rival instead.
Round 2, Pick 24: Denver Broncos: Cody Latimer, WR – The Broncos traded up and bolstered the receiving core that was already dangerous. Latimer simply doesn't drop passes, and its hard to imagine he'll drop any considering who his quarterback is. The Broncos got aggressive as Latimer slipped. Excellent pick for the spot.
Round 2, Pick 26: New Orleans Saints: Stanley-Jean Baptiste, DB – This defensive back with lots of size just adds to an excellent secondary group. First Jairus Byrd, now Baptiste. That's a scary secondary in New Orleans.
Round 2, Pick 29: Jacksonville Jaguars: Allen Robinson, WR – The Penn State product will be in Philadelphia to open the 2014 season and with the rest of the Jacksonville selections – Bortles and Lee – on paper, it certainly looks like a new and improved offense in Jacksonville.
Round 2, Pick 30: New England Patriots: Jimmy Garoppolo, QB – The Patriots grabbed a quarterback in the second round fully knowing he would spend the first few years on the bench. That's what made it an interesting pick. But it was also a smart pick. Tom Brady won't last forever, so the Patriots may have taken the first step to choosing his successor.
Round 3, Pick 2: Washington Redskins: Morgan Moses, OT – At this stage of the draft, Moses was a total steal for the Redskins. How he lasted until the third round is still a mystery. There could be something to that, but for the Redskins to grab his at the 66th overall pick is a great get.
Round 3, Pick 10: New York Giants: Jay Bromley, DT – Can't say anyone is really sure what the Giants were thinking with this pick. They made a brilliant pick in the first round and followed it up with a sensible pick in the second round. This one was just a straight up question mark.
Round 3, Pick 14: Washington Redskins: Spencer Long, OG – He's a player the Eagles were very high on. Again, a division rival snatched him up. The grades aren't good on this pick, but Long has some upside that could make this a solid pickup in the end.
Round 3, Pick 19: Houston Texans: Louis Nix III, DT – The Eagles had him within their grasp, but elected to trade the pick for other options. At this spot, he's a steal. The Texans already excellent defense with J.J. Watt and top pick Jadeveon Clowney just got even better.
Round 3, Pick 26: Indianapolis Colts: Donte Moncrief, WR – A player that would have been a solid fit for the Eagles, he'll now be a target of Andrew Luck. He wasn't going to be the best wide receiver on the board by any stretch, but he went pretty much exactly where he was expected to go. For the Colts to be their waiting just happened to involve a lot of luck.
Round 3, Pick 28: Carolina Panthers: Trai Turner, OG – Turner stayed on the board longer than expected as well. The Panthers really have played this draft well all things considered. They took Kelvin Benjamin a little high, even at 28 in the first round, but they stole Ealy Kony in the second and Turner in the third. Not bad at all.
Round 3, Pick 33: Pittsburgh Steelers: Dri Archer, RB – Archer has a lot of potential, which makes this third-round selection a good one. He was a running back that slid under the radar. After using their first two selections on top-tier front-seven defenders, their first offensive pick was solid.
