Two nights after a wild offensive showing by both teams, they were locked into a pitchers duel. Cliiff Lee of the Phillies (6-8) pitched a complete game. Julio Teheran spun a shutout though and Evan Gattis proved to be the difference maker with in the run column as the Braves (10-4) took game two of this series, 1-0.
The Game: Both pitchers were throwing zero's until the top of the fourth. Julio Teheran hadn't given up a hit yet. Cliff Lee had given up only four hits. The fifth hit? Well that belonged to none other than Evan Gattis, who hit two homers on Monday night. He ripped a solo shot just over the wall in left to put the Braves ahead, 1-0. That was all they needed tonight.
Julio Teheran had a no-hitter going into the bottom of the fifth but a Ryan Howard infield single broke it up. They wouldn't get another hit until a Carlos Ruiz single in the eighth. Jimmy Rollins hit a two-out single in the ninth, but Chase Utley grounded out to end the game.
Cliff Lee threw a complete game, ending his night with a career-high 128 pitches. He gave up 11 hits, one run, walked one and struck out 13. Tonight was his fifth career complete game loss.

Jimmy Rollins: 1-4

Chase Utley: 0-4, 2 K's
Impact: Julio Teheran was on tonight. He was efficient and threw a lot of first pitch strikes. The Phillies seemed eager at the plate and could have shown more patience. That being said, it may not have mattered. The Braves ace was nearly un-hittable. Freddy Galvis made a heck of a play in the field at third to rob Justin Upton of a hit in the eighth. Nothing out of the offense tonight. Not much more to say about it.
Up Next: The Phillies look to salvage a game in the series as AJ Burnett (0-1, 3.94) gets the nod after leaving his last start early with what has been diagnosed as a hernia. The Braves will oppose with Alex Wood (2-1, 1.89). Tomorrow is a matinee game, slated for 1:05pm on CSN and the MLB Network.
