According to Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com, the Philadelphia Eagles inquired about the availability of oft-injured, but game breaking running back C.J. Spiller of the Buffalo Bills. Although the Eagles attempts were rebuffed, the attempt to trade for the former Clemson Tiger showed a waning interest in (now former Eagle) DeSean Jackson.

As we now know, the Birds were unable to pry Spiller lose and they went on to option two: trading a fifth round pick for running back Darren Sproles.

While Spiller would have been a dynamic compliment to LeSean McCoy, his inability to stay healthy and on the field could have hampered the Eagles plans to employ a two-headed monster at the running back position.

The Eagles will move towards the draft with McCoy, Sproles, Bryce Brown, Chris Polk, and Matthew Tucker manning the position.
