Hamels Pitches Four Innings In Clearwater

Cole Hamels took another step in recovery as he pitched four innings today for the Clearwater Threshers as they took on the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Over his four innings of work, Hamels gave up two runs on three hits. He also struck out four. Cole gave up two solo homers to Blue Jays lead-off man Dwight Smith Jr. After his outing, he threw some more pitches in the bullpen to finish off his day.

This outing was Hamels' third of his recovery from shoulder tendinitis. He said that he believes that six rehab starts would be needed before returning to the Phillies. If that is the case, his last minor league start could be on April 21st or 22nd. So, if all goes well, Cole could debut against the D'Backs or Mets at the end of the month.
