The Hobey Baker Hat Trick (College Hockey's Heisman) was announced earlier today. The three finalists were chosen based on the top three vote getters.

National scoring leader and returning finalist Johnny Gaudreau headlines the list, which also includes St. Lawrence's Greg Carey and St. Cloud State's Nic Dowd. The winner will be announced next Friday, April 11 at the Frozen Four in Philadelphia.

Below is a bit more information about the finalists.

Greg Carey- St. Lawrence (Sr. FWD)

Carey was a Hobey finalist last season as the nation’s leading goal scorer. This year he returns as the nation’s leader in assists during the regular season with 39. Carey, who signed with the Phoenix Coyotes last month, was one of the top undrafted free agent prospects in college this season. He scored 18 goals and ranked second in the NCAA with 57 points in 38 games this season with SLU. He’s dangerous offensive threat with a heavy wrist shot.

Nic Dowd- St. Cloud State (Sr. FWD)

Dowd was a first-team all-NCHC selection this season, and was tied for the scoring lead on the Huskies regular season championship team with 39 points. He as seventh-round pick in the 2009 draft by the Los Angeles Kings. LA signed him to a one-year deal last week. Dowd led the NCHC with 10 power play goals. He finished second in goals and ninth in points.

Johnny Gaudreau- Boston College (Jr. FWD)

He currently leads the nation with 35 goals, 42 assists and 77 points in 39 games played, as BC will play in the Frozen Four next week.  He had a 31-game point streak snapped by Notre Dame two weeks ago in the Hockey East tournament. A finalist last year, Gaudreau is the favorite to take home the hardware this year. The Carney’s Point, NJ native has the determination and skill to prove the doubters wrong about his small stature, similar to Marty St. Louis. Gaudreau is property of the Calgary Flames.
