Chip Kelly Eyes Calvin Pryor at Louisville Pro Day
Calvin Pryor it seems is on the Eagles radar after Chip Kelly spent his Monday at Louisville's Pro Day.
Chip Kelly was one of six coaches who attended Louisville's Pro Day Monday, and it appears that he was not there to scout quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
The Eagles have made a concerted effort to bolstering the secondary this offseason after inking Malcolm Jenkins and Nolan Carroll before later bringing Nate Allen back into the fold Monday for depth purposes. Meanwhile, Cardinals safety Calvin Pryor has been linked to the Eagles in several mock drafts.
It appears that the 5'11 safety is precisely the reason Kelly made the trip to Louisville's workout.
"Chip Kelly was there," Steve Andress of WDRB in Louisville said. "He was fixated on safety Calvin Pryor… Chip ran to the front to watch his drills. He then spent a lot of time talking with him afterwards."
Finding some consistency at the safety position clearly has been the Eagles priority since allowing Brian Dawkins to walk via free-agency in 2009, and it seems this off-season they have ratcheted up that search.
Pryor is a consensus top-two safety along with Alabama's Haha Clinton-Dix and finished his three-year career with seven interceptions.
The Eagles hold the 22nd pick in May's NFL draft and if safety remains a priority and Kelly came away impressed enough by Monday's workout, Pryor just may wind up in the Eagles defensive backfield and fighting for a starting job this summer.
