The Sixers made an extremely classy move today when they announced they would sign Bensalem High School senior Kevin Grow to a two-day contract. Grow, a manager of the Bensalem High School basketball team for four seasons, has Down syndrome and the Sixers are honoring him with this ceremonial contract.
A story that has grabbed national attention, Grow played in the final two regular season games for Bensalem. He had quite a showing in their final home game, which of course was Senior Day. After scoring three points in a game prior against Abington, Grow erupted for 14 points, including four three-pointers on 4-for-5 shooting and a buzzer beating shot in the team's 64-40 win against Neshaminy.

"“It's tough to describe. It really is,” [coach John] Mullin said. “It's one of those things that doesn't happen often.” Grow worked on his three-point shot during Bensalem's practices this season. And the Owls do not end practice until Grow hits a free throw. “He's a gift from God — he really is,” Mullin said.
The Sixers two-day contract includes some great perks for Grow. Sixers GM Sam Hinkie will announce the contract in person at the team's practice facility today at around 5:30 PM. Grow will join the Sixers for shoot around in practice followed by dinner with the team. He will also get his hands on plenty of Sixers gear.
In addition to that, he will be a part of game festivities when the Sixers play host to the Cavs on Tuesday night. He will receive his own jersey and his own locker.
Grow will also stand with the Sixers for the National Anthem, be a part of the high five tunnel and be honored during a timeout with the entire Bensalem High School varsity basketball team.
