Last night against the Hawks, coach Brett Brown said the Sixers (15-32) had their "poorest performance" of the season. That may be the case, but they have no time to think about it as they play in Detroit tonight against the Pistons (18-27). These two teams have matched up twice this season, both victories coming in favor of Detroit, 115-110 and 114-104. Let's take a closer look at tonight's game slated for 7:30PM.
- While the Sixers have a chance to put yesterday's loss behind them quickly, they are a mere 2-10 in second games of back-to-backs. They have lost 11 of their last 14. Thaddeus Yound scored 29 points in last night's loss to Atlanta.
- Turnovers were what caused the Sixers to look sloppy against the Hawks. They made nine turnovers in the first five minutes and the Pistons force over 15 per game.
- The teams are tied for ninth overall in the NBA when it comes to rebounding, but the Pistons have taken a nice edge in the two meeting against the Sixers this season, outrebounding Philadelphia 119-83.
- Both teams have lost four of their last five, but the Sixers have lost five of six against Detroit.
- Evan Turner and Michael Carter-Williams have been stryggling from the field lately, shooting 35.8% and 35.7% respectively. MCW has averaged 14.3 points on 34.5 percent (19 for 55) from the field in the last four games.
- While the Sixers are playing on the second night of a back-to-back, the Pistons have not played since Tuesday, when they beat the Magic. They were supposed to play Atlanta, but the snowstorm down south postponed that matchup.
- Even though the Pistons may be well rested, they haven't won consecutive contests at The Palace since the first two games of the season.
- Defense has not been a strong point for the Sixers, who allow a league leading 109.6 points per game. They also allow an NBA worst 19.2 points off of turnovers per game.
You can catch tonight's game at 7:30 PM on Comcast Sportsnet. I'll have the game recap after the final buzzer right here.
In other news, Andrew Bynum has shockingly found a place to play for the remainder of the season, signing a deal with the 35-10 Indiana Pacers.
