Sixers top Knicks at MSG 110-106
Turner was spectacular from the get-go, making 9 of his first 12 shots in the first half. He led the charge for the Sixers all night, finishing with 10 rebounds and two assists. The team needed Turner’s scoring tonight, as the whole Sixers bench only contributed 16 points.
The Sixers starters played very well tonight, with the exception of Spencer Hawes. Thaddeus Young finished with 19 points (on 8-21 shooting), 7 rebounds (4 offensive), and 4 assists, but I was more impressed with his defense tonight, as he stole the ball 4 times to go along with one block. Thaddeus contained Carmelo Anthony for much of the game, but it was definitely a team effort in defending Anthony tonight.
James Anderson played a really good game tonight, finishing with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. He went 6-7 from the field in the first half, settling in as a consistent scoring option for the team.
As for everyone’s favorite rookie, Michael Carter-Williams played the distributor role very well tonight, despite putting up 19 points. He only made five shots from the field, but two of them were 3-pointers, and he also made seven free-throws. What was more impressive tonight was his 12 rebounds and seven assists. He managed the game extremely well, as the Sixers led for almost the entire game.
Tony Wroten did not play tonight with an ankle injury, but he is expected to return soon, maybe for Friday night’s home game against Toronto. Brandon Davies, however, will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken toe.
