Earl Wolff Confident He Can Play Against Saints
Earl Wolff was a full participant in the Eagles Thursdsay walkthrough and says he's ready to play.
It was only a walkthrough for the Eagles Thursday in the indoor practice facility but rookie safety Earl Wolff sounds like he's ready to return to action Saturday night in the NFC Wildcard playoff game against the New Orleans Saints.
Wolff missed last Sunday's winner-take-all NFC East finale against the Dallas Cowboys after aggrevating his right knee injury the previous week against the Chicago Bears.
On Thursday though Wolff, who was a full participant, said he was able to put his knee through the paces and feels confident he'll be ready by Saturday's 8pm kickoff.
"I felt good. Now it's up to them, basically," Wolff, who originally hyper-extended the knee Nov. 10 at Green Bay said. "what I would do in a game, and it didn't really bother me. Of course, I felt it a little bit, but I'm going to feel it a little bit, you know. But it's nothing that's going to hold me back, I feel like."
This week has been a reversal of fortune for Wolff from last week when he practiced all week but did not feel comfortable enough with his knee to give it a go in the season finale, yet this week he hasn't practiced other than today's walkthrough but sounds as if he'll be ready to play.
"Earl has to practice if he's going to play," head coach Chip Kelly told reporters Wednesday. "So if that's your question, yeah, he's got to get out there at some point in time."
Whether or not a walkthrough will be enough preparation time for Wolff in the eyes of the coaching staff remains to be seen, but after last week's struggles from Patrick Chung, his presence certainly would be valued in the secondary as it matches up against Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham.
The only Eagle who didn't participate in practice Thursday was backup center Julian Vandervelde, who remains sidelined with a back problem.
