Tom Wilson's hit on Brayden Schenn in Tuesday night's 5-2 win for the Philadelphia Flyers was the turning point that cost the Washington Capitals the game.
It seemed it would also cost Wilson at least one game after a phone hearing with the Department of Player Safety. Instead, after the hearing, there is no supplementary discipline for Wilson after the hit.
Schenn missed the rest of Tuesday's game after the hit and Wilson was tossed from the game with a five-minute major for charging and a game misconduct. Schenn was not tested for a concussion and is playing in tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
While the hit was a clear act of charging, many believe the reason Wilson escaped further discipline is because Schenn didn't suffer an extensive injury.
