Yesterday, Baseball America released their top-10 prospect list for the Philadelphia Phillies. If you are a more-than-casual fan of the team, you'll understand that the Phillies farm system has been severely depleted in the last 5+ season, mostly due to the high-impact trades made by the organization. Still, the team has a few players that could pan out to be better than expected, as you'll see in the list below:
- Maikel Franco – 3B
- Jesse Biddle – LHP
- J.P. Crawford – SS
- Miguel Gonzalez – RHP
- Roman Quinn – SS
- Carlos Tocci – OF
- Ethan Martin – RHP
- Cesar Hernandez – 2B/OF
- Aaron Altherr – OF
- Severino Gonzalez – RHP
Several of the names listed (Franco, M. Gonzalez, Martin, Hernandez) have already or will soon seen major league action, while the others will continue to improve themselves in the minor leagues. In the end, though, this list looks much less impressive when you compare it to the days of names like Hamels, Howard, and Utley.
