Nine straight home games have ended in defeat for the Philadelphia Eagles. Eight straight
road games have ended in defeat for the New
York Giants
. One of those streaks will end when the two teams meet for the
second time this season in a Week 8 match.

The Eagles had the upper hand in the previous meeting,
winning 36-21 in a game that saw Nick
Foles
rise to short-lived glory and the pending hamstring injury for Michael Vick.

The roles are reversed this week. Foles is out with a
concussion. Vick will play after two weeks off.

The Eagles will be relying on strong performances from LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson to power the offense and support Vick in his return.

Meanwhile, Eli Manning looks for a better performance after struggling against the Eagles in Week 5. He will be backed by a strong receiving core in Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks who both performed well despite the loss to the Eagles in Week 5.

The Giants are also coming off their first win of the season on Monday. Despite the short week, they have some restored confidence.

The Eagles are trying to rebound from a rough game against the Cowboys last Sunday, producing their lowest offensive output all season.

Staff Predictions:

Eagles 24, Giants 16

And you thought last week was ugly. Michael Vick is returning, but keep in mind that he is just five-of-nine passing in the red zone and LeSean McCoy has failed to rush for 100 yards or more in three of the last four games. This could be a throwback to the knock down, drag 'em out NFC East type of football this city loves, but I don't see a high scoring affair. For the first time since the last time these teams met at Lincoln Financial Field the paying customers go home happy, though

I have a bad feeling Michael Vick's injury will flare back up at some point in the game. Despite coming of their best performance of the season, the Eagles' defense won't have as much luck against Eli Manning's Giants. Tom Coughlin's team will roll with their first victory of the season, beginning a small winning streak and somehow managing to get back into the NFC East race. Count me in for a strong DeSean Jackson performance – 120 yards, 1 TD – but two scores by the Victor Cruz/Hakeem Nicks tandem.

This is a game I could see going either way. The Eagles are simply not a great football team and the Giants may be even worse. The Giants, coming off a win, may have life. But their injuries just appear to be too much. It looks like a game the Eagles should easily win. I'll give them the win, but it won't be easy.
