BJ Cunningham spent time with the Eagles during training camp this summer and resigned with the team Tuesday.
The Philadelphia Eagles on Monday added to their receiving corps by signing BJ Cunningham and releasing tight end Emil Igwenagu.
Cunningham, 24, was with the team over the summer during training camp and released with an injury settlement on August 1. The Michigan State product spent last season on the Eagles practice squad after being waived by the Miami Dolphins following being the team's sixth-round draft choice.
The 6'2, 211 pound Cunningham concluded his career at Michigan State as the school's all-time leader in receptions (218) and receiving yards (3,086). He also ranks second in career TD receptions with 25.
According to a team source the Eagles made this move simply to add depth at wide receiver.
Igwenagu was inactive against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday and has yet to suit up this season after making the active roster. The move leaves only Brent Celek, Zach Ertz and James Casey at tight end.
It isn't clear whether or not the Eagles outright released Igwenagu or if he has a chance to land on the practice squad.
